Had an itch to go hunting tonight, so I did a little "Midnight Hunting" in the back of my apartment building. The building dates back to the mid 1800's. Out for about 45 minutes, and I found a heavy slab of metal; a washer of sort sort; a 1975 penny; and old shell casing; and a small part of a gear? Each piece was about 4 inches down. Again, still getting used to my ACE 250, but BOY can it find stuff!

Keep L@@king it won't be long till you find the good stuff! :D

Your "washer" looks like a solderless connector. The wire is crimped into the small end and the round part fits over a threaded battery terminal. A nut or wing nut is tightened over it to make the connection. One that size was probably used to power an accessory in a boat, car, or trailer.

Sounds like fun hunting at night. Never tried it. Can you give us some pointers for night hunting?

Welcome to TreasureNet, PA.

You've got a great detector there. Good Luck! :)

To answer your question Dan, midnight hunting is fun, BUT you have to be VERY careful as to where you hunt. I live in an old apartment building that dates back to the mid 1800's, so all I really did was just step out my back door. Basically, I used a flashlight, was very quiet, and didn't dig every signal. I'm also lucky because the spot where I dig those items, there's a fairly large spotlight shining down, which provided more light. Unless it's your own property, I would highly advise against going hunting at night, for fear of neighbors calling the police, etc. I plan to not make a habit of this, but again, I have an advantage because I hunted almost literaly right outside my doorstep. I hope this helps, and Happy Hunting!

Thanks for the info PA makes good sense to be sensible while hunting at night. :) I suppose another factor would be safety....not being able to hear or see. Thanks again for the reply.

Dan
