Found these today at a house built in the mid to early 1800s. One is a wheat penny but not sure what the item is that says U.S; any ideas? Thanks for looking!

actually called a Bit Boss :thumbsup:

A Bridal Rossette was affixed to the sides of the Bridal,which held the bit.....which is what these were attached to

.....Cannonball guy has a great picture of a complete rig,but I cant find it.
You can search Horse Headstall rossette,or Horse Bridal Rossette,and see the difference
