Hi,
My husband and I found this item on a beach in Newport, RI a few years ago. Our best guess is some kind of a belt buckle, but we aren't sure. Would love to know more if anyone has any info. Thanks in advance! 20190430_162528.webp 20190430_162617.webp 20190430_162624.webp

Im far from an expert, in fact I basically know nothing about military buckles, but I know a good one to find is a CSA buckle, yours kind of looks like it might have those letters?

Cool, doubt it’s CSA though.

Nothing I see on this object says "buckle" to me. why do you think it's a buckle?

I'm guessing more likely a pig iron ingot.

I agree with Matt, it does not look like a buckle at all. There were also no CW belt buckles with CSA, US, or any of the other state or unit plate type buckles that were made of iron or steel.

Unfortunately, this isn't a CSA belt plate and I don't think it's a belt plate at all. Only verified iron CS plates are like the one I found in my avatar, yet it isn't CSA, only CS. I know there is a sword belt plate made of iron, like the typical U.S. eagle version, and possibly a CS copy, but not verified to be. I'll post a photo and a really cool plate I would love to find.
