Military buckle Finnian raid

Found this buckle near Dundurn castle about 10 inches down.Brutal dig at the end of a frustrating day and I cursed and hacked at the ground and decided this crushed pop can was not going to defeat me so I keep digging on my belly with my last ounce of ...........
Surprise not a pop can a military buckle from the 16th regiment.Later research showed the 16th rested there during the Finnian raid in 1866,[when the Irish in NY tried to take over Canada.They must have been after my pot of gold!
Never found the other half.

Cool find Dr-quest, but it isn't "Finnian", it's Fenian. The Fenian Brotherhood were Irish freedom fighters seeking independence from Britian. Canada was considered to be part of Britian as it was under British rule at the time, as was Ireland.
Anyway, that's a great buckle. Any old military camp is always a great place to detect.
