I dug this up in a area that was left due to flood control. The area had houses dating back around 1760. Having a hard time finding info on it.Any ideas

Cool find. If it's a flat, one-piece button, it could date from the early 1800s or even earlier. IMO, though, I don't see any military connection. I'd say it was a civilian button.
