I did in the past, 2015? There are much better choices out there now. Great scoop, but heavy to carry any distances. Maybe 7 or more pounds..compared to 3 to 4 pounds now days scoops. Also it can be rather in the way, I had to pull the detector too the far right when digging or it would it would be picked up by the coil. I moved on and gave it away, think I bought it used a few years earlier for 45 dollars at one of the club meetings..Maryland

I started out in the water with a Garrett XL 200 and an early Miller scoop.
I am comfortable with the handle design. Being 6 foot 4 I have no issue with the scoop
Does any one make a scoop similar to the Miller?

As far as I know, no one makes them any more. There was a shop in NH that use to sell them several years ago, the guys name was George, I'll see if I can find him.

Ok his name is George Streeter, his shop was named Streeters but they have closed. He's getting up there in age so I hope he is still alive.. https://www.facebook.com/georgefstreeter

The GXL200 was a Pi? Long case? Beyond my time but I think I've seen one before?

Garrett XL 200 was a pulse induction correct.
I still have it. Had a lot of good finds with it.
Back when the digging was good. Mid 1980's
I'll dig it out and post a picture.

This is my old Garrett XL 200 I started in the water with. It has a set of land and diving head phones not pictured.

Yep, That's the one I seen, Very cool! Question, is that a meter on the top of it? And what is the purpose? And what year did they come out? I'm guessing the early 90's or late 80's?
I came across a oldtimer here in Maryland that had a few of the Whites PI SurfMasters. Love looking at , trying and studying old water machines. You around Maryland, love to hear the audio of it and how it works.

Yes it is a meter. I always wore it on my hip so the only time I looked at the meter was to check the battery level.
I purchased this used in about 1982 or 83. Always had it tuned to the lowest threashold tone and zero discrimination.
The diving headphones were the best to hear the lowest signal with. The XL 500 was the later version of this and was on the market a few years after I got this. I used to dig silver half dollars 12 to 14 inches deep.
This machine would need a battery and new o-rings before I would use it in the water. It may hold a charge on the old battery though.

Here is a classic during that time. These guys hunted the Chesapeake bay around the time you were hunting... Now the area I hunt...
Friend of mine sent me this in VHS and I was able to transfer it to youtube.

Marine grade aluminum scoops (won't oxidize and turn your hands black), heavy duty good for digging in clay, rocks, etc., part scoop, part pry bar. Probably weigh about 2.5 - 3 lbs each.

Probably not viable to make as a commercial product, more a labor of love.

I like the shape of the first curved one from the left.
Who manufactures them?

This is my first WELL used Miller scoop. It just hangs on the wall in my shop for a future template. I am trying to find some one who can make a scoop like this to my specifications.

A friend of mine in Florida has a welding business and he built it as a custom one of a kind.

We were experimenting with different ideas, and it evolved in to assist handles.

Update!! A member here reached out to me and sold me what looks like a never used Miller scoop.
Stainless bucket type. Still has a Miller lable on it. No wear marks at all.
Now I need to break it in.
