As you know, the GPX series is sent to be used with a harness and bungee cord attached to the shaft. For me, this seemed a little awkward. I realize that some guys can't swing the machine too long without one, but what about us guys that can? So I put my idea down on paper and went to work. After hours of trying to perfect something, I finally did. The pack I designed excludes the need for a harness attached with a bungee, making this machine so much easier to use. For us guys detecting the South East it gets extremely hot causing extreme irritation with the harness.

Please share your ideas to help other GPX users in the field.

Re: New GPX4500,4800 and 5000 Battery hip mount box

yes, those pi battery web harnesses are almost enough to send me back to the truck.with my 4500 hotted up,large coil, must drop my harness on the ground to scoot the coil away from my digger when recovering.or unplug the speaker etc.few months back, strapped the battery on the right side of control box, clipped the speaker there too,and started to actually enjoy my pi machine.wires are all tucked away, speaking of which, that smart point wire from control box to the handle/gb button on the gpx macines.too flimsy to run from belt to handle on shaft.could belt mount the handle/button as well,on your off side.but would then need a handle/no button to run the detector.that smart point wire is the weak link and needs protection.just my 2cents. :icon_thumleft:

hardest part of changing to pi goldhunting, from vlf was just handling the machine while pinpointing/recovering.losing the d-ring clip snapper big first step.now i can easily set this monster down.love the battery/spkr r. side of box,now it doesnt chase me around while pick swingin.howling at the pick like a demon.have scared people, can make a pi sound just like a siren when digging.like to see who is paranoid. :icon_jokercolor: making the 45 a standalone not easy on the old shoulder.but is more productive for me.luck.
