MINING CLAIM SELLERS

If any of them won't let you come on site and do your own sampling, walk away. Plain and simple.

Yes, that's for sure. I'd want to do some digging with equipment before I bought a claim.

Good luck getting permission to use any equipment to test in California. If you're so hot to trot, why not just do your due diligence, put your eager boots on the ground and go find your own place to dig? Why buy a claim from some snake oil salesman? Plenty of unclaimed ground in California, so instead of paying thousands of dollars for someone that has already done the staking, do it yourself for $500.

Yes, I may. And to the comment about digging with equipment in California, my buddies do it everyday. There's that nasty phrase "permission" again. Funny how that keeps cropping up on this site over & over. Read my post " TIME TO BUCK UP & BE A FREE BORN MAN ".

Just saying, you will not have claim owner permission to go on THEIR claim with equipment to test. There is the matter of disturbance to consider. So, you find a supposedly good claim to buy and want to test it. This claim has good gold at the creek or river, and it's 1,000 feet in the canyon. In order to test it with heavy equipment, it will require putting in a road and a pad for that equipment. Any disturbance over 5 acres requires a POO, and a reclamation bond. The claim for sale is, lets say $5000. The salesman claims it will produce an ounce per yard. Are you willing to put in a road, and pad costing $50,000 just to find out if he's telling the truth? Add in that just to test you'll be required to file a Plan of Operation and post a reclamation bond. Now you have to wait for approval, likely a year, and the more you "BUCK UP" to the Government, the longer they take. And the bond goes up. So now you're into the $100,000's just to test a $5,000 claim.

So, BUCK UP AND BE A FREEBORN MAN. Just remember, if you want to get a million in gold, you better have three million in cash first.

I disagree but respect your opinion. Each case has it's own challenges of course. As stated previously, I am not filing any plans with the government.

You can not encourage members to violate or ignore any laws..

Had almost the same argument earlier with a fellow on here about city parks, and permission to detect certain ones that are deemed by the parks dept to not be able to detect. It’s not filed on any city ordinance, or city statute, but was talked about within the city parks dept that they were tired of having to go out there, and fix the dying grass that other detectorist would leave laid out, and not hardly even attempting to cover their holes. Now it’s not on the books as illegal, but if a parks dept worker says you can’t, and he catches you again he can call the cops, and you can be fined or arrested for criminal trespass, and criminal mischief for messing up the dirt. That member I spoke to couldn’t fathom that not all parks are ok to detect just because other city parks within the same city are

The difference is that it's a test and it's part of prospecting. Hes not mining until hes done prospecting.
If you do decide to mine it just reclaim it as you go. No problem and no need for any bonds. At the end you'll just have to clean up the last of it. Keep it under an acre.
That's what I would do at my claim but I'm in Colorado. I might just get away with it without any hassles.

We know that but apparently he didn't. No worries Just a troll stirring the pot anyway

You mean Silverraith? The one who’s only been a member for going on about 6 days, and clearly hasn’t read TN rules, let alone mining or mine claims? Funny the other guy mentioned the the dredge or sluice box, I live in Arkansas, and the creek in front of my mom, and dads reportedly had gold in it from a tale of when the Spanish mined in the area. Funny cause I used a sluice and a small dredge, and found a bunch of flakes, but not enough to take me away from detecting, or re-breaking my back over

Silveraith is on vacation for multiple rule infractions and can not reply for awhile.

Come on I wanted to hear more about running (and dealing with the tailings) of 500 cubic yards a day with a piece of equipment that has a 1/2 yard bucket. For giggles I figured you would have to drop a bucket on the grizzly every 48 seconds for 8 hours straight. Never mind dealing with the oversized rock pile, the oversized gravel pile coming out of the barrel...and then fines. That would be one busy piece of equipment!!

Then of course you'd have the 670 CY of pay gravel that would have to be excavated and trucked to the trommel each day for the rest of the week..all the while cleaning up concentrates and repairing/servicing equipment. Completely reasonable with 1 real man and a good wife.

Seriously though...the best laid plans will fail and you just have to adjust.

On a flipper claim in California :headbang:

500 yards is small scale bro...

i just wonder...why when they come back to tnet...they don't try to sound any different than how they did...last time they got kicked off of tnet.

It’s just how they are. Like they say you can’t fix stupid. People talk the same way they do no matter if they’ve been kicked off

The funniest part was when he said he was going to buy a $100K piece of equipment. Someone with zero mining experience, not even prospecting experience (and like never used a gold pan). This is someone who doesnt even know how to swim jumping into the whitewater of a river and expecting to swim laps. Too many days spent watching gold rush re-runs on tv.
