Check out Blackstrap molasses as an easy safe way to remove rust. Takes a long time but has excellent results. Google away. I have used 6 parts water to 1 part molasses with good results on a cast iron cylinder head. Mine started fermenting but I just made another mix. Rinse off well with water. Good if you are not in a hurry. If you are leaving parts in an icecream container or plastic bin be sure to write the date on the lid.
