Got out with Lookn4seated on Monday and we went out to our go to spot that has yet to disappoint. You couldn't ask for a better day in January to be out hunting. The temperature was perfect and the ground was soft and dry enough not get mud on all the equipment.

I started out with some new settings on the detector and quickly changed them back to what I normally hunt with when I missed the 1916 Merc that Jon dug a few inches away from a bunches of wheaties that I had dug up. All was not lost as I later managed to pull out 1945 Merc and a 1946 Rosie later on. Back to the drawing board on some different settings.

Here are some pics of other notable finds from Monday's hunt. The first one is a really cool womens pin that has what I hope will turn out to be rubies. It looks like it was gold plated and most of it has worn off but I don't see a hallmark.

Next is a pretty cool belt buckle. To bad its not silver.

Last is a button with pretty cool design and a religious pennant.

All in all had a great hunt this early in the season and here is to hoping we get another day like Monday soon!

Re: Monday 1/25/10: 1st Silver

Congrats on your first silver for the year and a handfull of other great finds. Now I just have to refresh my memory on how those damn wheaties come in....all I was getting for pennies was those....whatchamacallits...oh yeah, Indian Head pennies. :laughing7: :laughing7:

Can't wait to go back there!

Nice silver and wheaties!

It'll be a looong while til I can get out...enjoy your time out for me too, will ya?

Joe

Awesome finds! BTW I like your avatar there. Two silver ... good hunt. Just think, had you not been playing with your settings, you would have gotten all the silvery treats that day. Also, good job recovering all those stones that fell out of the pendant -- hope they end up being real.

You got it, Joe!

Jon, the stones were actually intact until I started cleaning it. I am just glad that I had the drain screen in place to catch them!

I was about to start the chant: D-Dub! D-Dub! D-Dub! D-Dub!...

But then I saw you got 'em posted! ;D
