I decided to detect an area park that I had not explored previously in a somewhat older area. In checking the outer perimeter of the basketball court, I dug this medal at about 3-4 inches.
The medal is smaller than what one would expect to find. It is between the size of a nickel and a quarter. It has an open wreath surrounding the front, inscription that reads "Monk", "B46" stamped in the back and the raised words gold plated barely visible on the very lower portion of the back. Obviously any gold is long gone. I have no idea on age, but I cannot imagine it to be any older the the 50's/60's as I usually see gold "rolled/filled" on pieces prior to that time. Anyone have an idea of a manufacturer and age?
