The farmers are working fast and furious here in eastern NC to harvest their corn before Hurricane "Earl" hits the coast. They picked the corn in one of my favorite artillery fields so I hit it this evening for an hour or two. These fields have yielded very little in regards to buttons , bullets or brass but I have found a lot of shell frags and a couple of full shells....therefore, I dig most of the big iron signals. This evening , I found the base cup of a 4 inch Hotchkiss shell, 2 other shell frags , an ax head and an old wrench. Not much , but artillery fragments always keep me motivated.
