More finds from the mid 1800s railroad site

I am not sure what these were used for but they have some interesting markings. These are C.P.R. ( Canadian Pacific Railway which connected Canada coast to coast in the late 1800's. The parts have a patent date but it is very hard to make out. It does look like a late 1800's date. Any rhoughts as to what they were used for would be welcome.
