Monday hunt is some woods here turned up another first for me. All you Makro/Nokta users should know that that 1867 3 cent nickel came up at 20 on the VDI. I tested it on both the Racer 2 and the Kruzer. the little 4 hole button was in the same hole as the 3 cent piece, and the buff is a 1916. I have no idea what that hinged thing is, but its hollow and has three initials on the back; maybe some kind of ornamental brooch? The leaf thing on the right is an old button and I think its made out of glass. The Merc was found in deep muck. All finds were found in 3 tone mode with discrim set at 10 and gain at 89.

So I was just informed that the hinged thing is part of a Victorian Mourning jewelry piece. It was made to hold a lock of hair from a deceased loved one.
Here is a picture of one i found online.
