Just doing a bit of tidying up on some older threads, mainly for the benefit of anyone searching the site for information.
Nice little set of souvenir spoons.
The first has a difficult to read mark but the spoon looks like its from the Watson Company of Attleboro, Massachusetts, founded in 1874 as “Watson, Newell & Co.” They became the “Watson Company” in 1915 (some sources say 1920). They obtained their first flatware patent in 1899 and began a wide production of flatware and souvenir spoons from a flatware division named the “Mechanics Sterling Company”. The spoon shows Atlantic City’s Traymore Hotel after rebuilding and refurbishment, likely c.1890s or later.
The second is from “R. Wallace & Sons Mfg. Co.” of Wallingford, Connecticut (1871-present, but now named “Wallace Silversmiths”).
The third is from the “Sterling Silver Mfg. Co.” of Providence, Rhode island (c.1909-1932) but their flatware patterns and dies were acquired by the Saart Brothers of Attleboro, Massachusetts who also used the ‘SSMC’ mark for their production.
The fourth is from the “Paye & Baker Manufacturing Co.” of Providence, Rhode Island (1901-1903) and North Attleboro, Massachusetts (1903-c. 1960). Flatware production however ceased around 1920.
The fifth and last is from “Chas.M. Robbins” of Attleboro, Massachusetts, founded in 1892 by Charles M. Robbins. In 1912 the “Robbins Company” was formed and became a subsidiary of Continental Communications Corporation in 1963.
