more Stone Age Axes (!!!) and other weekend finds Dated now. "7000 Years old"
We went back to the field with the stone age finds this weekend. When i parked the truck my hunting buddy jumped in the field and his first find was this complete axe with only minor damage. Only a few steps later the second one turned up! We started detecting and got some nice other finds too. Some coins, most from the 1800s, one silver 10 Cent 1918 Netherland, buttons, roman bronze nail (the only roman find from me this day) and the usual stuff. The flint knive i found late in the afternoon. It looks like we have a very nice neolithic place there.
Today was a short hunt at the musket ball field. Not much there other than the musket balls. Best was a prussian buckle. First find to make a date on this probably skirmish site.

It is actually what is called "Dechsel" an axe which is mounted horizontally to the shaft.
They are much shorter. About 1/2". This one looks like a bullen nail from some kind of furniture.
