We had a change of plans and did not get to try out the Sunray 12" so instead I used the SE Pro coil again this morning. Hunted with fellow Tnet'r ExitEden today. Lots of clad at our location but was able to pop out some big silver ;D

I have only 2 things negative to say about this new coil,

1. The coil cover is a non-concentric shape and the when they vacuum formed the coil cover, it leaves a thin gap that sand and dust can accumulate in, so I took advice from GoldenRoyBoy and ran electrical tape around the edge but at the front of the coil and the rear, it have concaved shapes that do not hold the electrical tape well.

2. The cord is a bit short, but it works because it is coiled and I use the Sunray X-1 Probe, it should have been about 4" longer.

The good things are:

- Vastly Improved Stability
- Outstanding Pinpointing
- Noticable improvement in depth and target lock
- Light Weight
- Looks like it came off of an F1 car, looks awesome!

I am thoroughly pleased with it so far ;D

Hey Buddy Mark!
Good sakes alive; I thought you were bedridden, sick with pheumonia?
You'd best be extremely careful; that stuff's nothing to play around with!

Yes, I agree on your assessments of the new Pro coil.
I'm no longer able to wrap the coil wire around the lower rod.
Instead, I'm using several velcro straps to keep it in place; relieving any stress on the wire connections.
I really like how the coil balances and prefer to extend it out almost to the end of the lower rod range.
By doing so, I'm able to cover a lot more ground. I will definitely be ordering up a tall man lower rod or two tomorrow.

The coil cover; I did run tape "completely" around the outside perimeter. I was just careful not to stretch the tape in the curvatures of the cover fore and aft. So far, mine is staying stuck.

Great job on the Kennedy! I don't find those very often and it's been too long.
May I borrow yours for a milinnium? Lol!

Take care,
GRB

Hello Mark!
How are you feeling?
Have you recovered from your bout with pneumonia?

About that coil cover on the Pro.
I removed the electrical tape from mine yesterday; cleaning everything.
I was flabbergasted to find sand, dirt, and grass clipping still managed to
find their way in! The culprit; the holes/slots on the bottom of the coil! I haven't
a clue as to why Minelab opted to design something so important such a way.
Anyhoo, I got out the duck tape and, I think solved the dilemma. :)

Take care buddy!
Get to feeling better!
