Howdy Folks. Been a handful of hunts that gathered all this stuff together. My favorite find of course is the pretty 1883 Indian which I missed on my first pass over the neighbor's sidewalk tear out. It was laying flat on the surface in plain view. Gotta' check my peepers. I got the 1952 Illinois Conservation tag at another neighbor's yard. I found the large #37 brass railroad tag in my new permission. I will have to research the H. Gross Franklin Grove, IL to figure out who they were. Franklin Grove is just a few miles from my home and work. Someone might know about them. I got the six O'Connells token coins right along the roadside in front of my new permission scattered all over. Found four wheats along the river earlier this week and two from my neighbor's new permission. My neighbor likes to shoot guns so I will probably be gathering up his lead from the backyard and cornfield. Oh, and in case you don't already know, pull tabs are made from "ALUMINUM". BTW, that super tiny round thingy inside the pull tab ring was also a recovery. I have been pretty amazed at the Makro Racer 2 with manual ground balance at 44 finding incredibly tiny items. Thanks for stopping by. Have a fabulous weekend. Kurios1

There is slight damage to the upper rim but she has a bold full LIBERTY with pretty nice patina. I can't believe I missed it the first time through. She was laying off to the side of the tear out on the edge of my neighbors lawn tails up. I guess that's why we go back over our spots.

GROSS, Lois
FRANKLIN GROVE, ILLINOIS: Lois H. Gross, 96, died May 13, 2006 at her home. She was born October 10, 1909 in Indianapolis to Albert and Florence Davis Hudson. She was the retired owner of the Tot-N-Teen Shop in Franklin Grove, and had also worked at the Circle Theater in Indianapolis. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Franklin Grove. She is survived by a granddaughter, Tammi (Tom) Lehman; a son-in-law, Gary (Nancy) Cater; and a great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert C. Gross; a daughter, Diana Cater; five sisters, Leona Campton, Beryl Aldrich, Helen Jaynes, Jeanette Marshino, and Donna Petty; three brothers, Vernon, William, and Harry Hudson; and a granddaughter, Terri Cater. Services were held at the United Methodist Church of Franklin Grove. Interment was at the Franklin Grove Cemetery by Preston-Schilling Funeral Home.

This is as much as I can find so far on the "H. Gross" brass tag. I am thinking this may be the family of the H. Gross in question. Should be an interesting investigation. Lois H. Gross might be the daughter of H. Gross? Hmmm?

That has got to be the finest specimen of pull tab i have ever seen. Nice collection of finds there. Good hunting.

Ya' know, some of the older ones I dig at least give me a clue as to if there may be silver lurking about. I think this one may be from the silver era. And it's made from ALUMINUM !:laughing7:

Nice hunt, I really like that rare Aluminum beaver tail. You ought to think about getting that one graded and slabbed. :laughing7:

Nice. :icon_jokercolor:

Nice finds! I once found a silver GW on the surface in the woods. It turned out I had hit the area a few weeks earlier and had launched it from the hole(lots of roots). Sometimes you get lucky.
