Good find. How long was it in the ground?

Looks like you dug up the SE.

I thought my detector was a little grungy. (Well, I guess it is)

Good work.

With the hammer back, it appears to have one in the chamber.
Great job, your area can sleep a little better knowing one criminal will be kept off the streets with the evedince you recovered.

well hopefully they can find the person who used it and put them away

I think since 2006

As usual I open mouth and insert foot. Now that I look closer, I see the probe and the plastic.

I wish stories like that would get around for more people to see, it would sure help to get permission to MD more sites
Good job. you got kudos from here. can't you feel me patting your back ?

I sure can ;D thx Ron

OH YEAH! We had a great time today! Too bad Ron found it too quick ~ the detective was going to buy us pizza lunch but RON found it in less than fifteen minutes of hunting!

Those police forensic guys spent several hours out there searching and searching. They have a nice Fisher detector but they don't know how to operate it. They had the descrimination up WAY too high. Ron not only showed them how an expert detectorist uses a detector ~ he also showed them how to use their own detector!

Needless to say we all were jazzed about the adventure. Ron was the hero today! GREAT JOB RON!!

Neil

score one for the good guys -- hope they put the dirt bag in the chair or give em the needle or at least life with no parole --- you did good --thanks for showing the boys in blue how its done -- you da man. Ivan

Myself being a police officer, let me offer you a big THANKS for your service to the community!!! You all are to be commended for a job well done.

From a retired firefighter/ems guy I think its awesome when the public stands up to help out the police.
I know the public stood up and help us out of jams many many times.
Thanks again for standing up and helping out.

Mike

That is so awesome! Big fun

No matter what city you are in, you should contact the local PD and SO detectives and have them keep your info available. You'll get a call once in a while to do a search. Let them know if you can go in water, too, because weapons are often thrown off bridges into rivers, oceans, etc.
Here they use a couple guys in the local treasure hunting club and they are called out maybe once a year. It's rare to find a weapon though because they normally are only speculating where it might be.

Can you imagine metal detecting and finding a gun you didn't know was there??! Yowza! :o
