The Museum of Native American Artifacts will have a Grand Opening at it's new location on Thursday, July the 10th. The Grand Opening will actually be 3 days (10,11, 12) and will have numerous Native American events through each day. There will be Native American dancing, flintknapping, atlatl demonstrations, Cherokee blowguns, basket making and much more!

The Museum is located in Bentonville, Arkansas at 202 SW "O" Street (O and Central). It houses some of the finest authentic Native American Artifacts in the county. Some of the artifacts include:

The "Sweetwater" biface - The incredible bi-face found at a rattlesnake roundup in Sweetwater Texas. One of the thinnest flint artifacts ever recovered.

Mississippian Headpots - The largest assemblage of these ultra-rare Mississippian vessels that has been put on public display.

Effigy Pottery - Some of the finest and well known effigy pottery there is, Mississippian, Caddo, Quapaw, etc. You will recognize many of these vessels, as they have been featured in numerous publications.

Spiro Mound Artifacts - An assortment of artifacts from the Great Spiro Mounds.

Flint - Some of the most incredible flint artifacts that you are bound to see anywheres, guaranteed to impress you - all authentic.

Historic Artifacts - From intricate beadwork, outfits, bows, blowguns, headdresses, mocassins, clubs, basketry, cradleboards, pipes...you name it.

Thanks for the heads up. Wish I could be there--however I am still out here in Baltimore. Been eating some good crab here though ;D ;D

Well, it all went off without a hitch. We had a wonderful opening with hundreds of people each day through. The events were well attended and I got plenty of pics. I'm tuckered out but very excited that the new building is now open to the public. If you ever make it this way, make that you drop in and check it out. Best of all, it's free of charge!

Well, looks like I missed it. Of course I had to work those days as it is. Of course, like I told you, I do get up that way fairly often now, and of course I plan to pop into the museum there sometime. Cant wait.
BTW you didn't mention Greg Perino's collection! I once "fondled" that cache of Little River blades he and his wife found.... ::)

Hope you can make it by sometime Shawn. Maybe the water will be down and we could do some hunting also. That's a helluva cache, isn't it? I've fondled it a few times myself...you can't get much higher grade of novaculite than what those are made of.

I hope you decide to put on some of your pictures for those of us that couldn't make it to the opening.
