Funny thing about old mansions. I hunted quite a few back in the early 70s and I'm pretty sure they hadn't been hunted previously. I did terrible. Seems like the rich folks back then are like those today, they didn't get that way by spending more than they needed to and lost very little. Have always done better at more modest sites.

I hunted a long ago doctors fishing cabin on the river, that is now surrounded by houses, but must have been a neat place back then. I figure he was a lying cheap skate, the only interesting thing I found was a plated engagement ring with a fake diamond, and I figure he was doing a number on some poor girl out there in the pucker brush. Do you suppose he had her skinny dipping among other things? Maybe she figured him out and threw the ring at him, one can only hope. Of course I would have been a lot happier with the doc if he had bought her a real ring to loose. :BangHead:

Some time it's hard to find where the stuff is at that kind of site be I'll say keep looking it's there. Hat's off on the round ball. I love bullets and have dug a lot, but when I dig one it's like candy to me ..HH

I was at it for hours and got the musket ball. But on the upside. I went back out with my boys to the field across the road from my house and found 6 coins :). The earliest was a half penny dated 1919. Good times

WTG on your first musket ball!
