There is a difference in them the pro came out late this year it has tone ID, ground grab, and backlit display added, its the same except for those features. The MXT300 is the same as the MXT except the 300 has the 300mm coil.

Some people like to run with the tracking locked and it can be handy in some ground that may be noisy going from clean ground to iron infested ground back and forth. It can also keep from the detector from tracking out really deep coins. Ground grab is only used when your running in the track lock position you use it to update the changing ground while your hunting, when the detector starts getting a little noisy or I would do it about every 20min or so. That makes perfect sense, thanks! I'm happy to see White's is continuing to improve their machines. I still love my XLTs, yes two of them. The MXT is my finace's and I now have an ETrac to learn...it's going to be a fun summer! I hope to get my sister involved in the hobby, hence the reason for two XLTs :)

The D2 coil is what I use most of the time on the MXT, it can really pull the deep targets. HH

Wingmaster,

Thanks for the tip; I'll definately look into the D2 coil as I hope to be detecting in some real old areas where the coins will be deep!
