Well..54 OR 64...it would be silver either way..and I have a couple silvers that are in that shape..one was in a fire and the other was underwater. And that familiar silver "clink" is a dead giveaway..so- cool find !..ddf
 

It is hard to tell the date. Could it be a
(not silver) 1966???
 

Make up a home electrolysis set up... it will burn that tarnish right off of that dime... you will know for absolute sure at that point.

It looks like silver to me. I found a war nickel once that looked like it was covered with roofing tar... it was silver tarnish. Electroysis works like a charm on the silvers.

Well I have found silver coins tarnished big time, but it looks like clad to me what ya can do is drop it in silver jewelry cleaner if it's tarnish it will come off and then you will know I hope it's silver bud..
 

Looks like a '64 to me.
 

electrolysis is easy and it is not a prime collectable coin so it would both clean it an most likely show you the date for sure, have had several clad dimes look very similar
