I hit the 1830's CW property for a bit yesterday. Although my finds were nothing great, I did enjoy the mid-70's sunny weather we are having.
I mainly worked back and forth across a stretch of field. I got a good signal at one spot, dug down, and saw what looked like a pistol! As you can imagine, finding a gun at a CW site would be a dream come true. My dream soon fizzled as I pulled it out of the hole and realized it felt too light to be real.
I went from drooling to sobbing in about 10 seconds.
What kind of sicko would leave this toy out there for me to dig up 50 years later?
Anyways, it was a moment of fun.
My other finds were:
*A large decorative 1800's button w/out shank (27mm).
*A rusty pocketknife that will be sent to electrolysis.
*A piece of lead that may have started life as a musket ball. It is round on one end.
That was it, nothing great.
Disappointment #2-
I've been reading a lot about this coin roll hunting, and decided to give it a try. I stopped by my bank on the way home tonight, and bought up $50 in halves (it was all they had). My oldest find was one 1967 (40% silver). There were a bunch of 1971's in there, but no full silver.
I guess I'll pay for my next tank of gas with these now.
Take care,
MM
