The site where I found this is along the route that George Washington used on his way to Yorktown. I did some Googling and found this on the George Washington Inaugural Buttons website - late 1700's Patriotic button, probably made in France for America. It says that an example was sold at auction, but I haven't any idea what it's value really is. I know it's rare, but has anyone seen one sold?

Yup! I saw a pic of your button in a button book that a friend had brought over. Congrats! Rev War history there.
 
I love buttons and gotta tell you value or not that is an awesome button!
 
I have only seen them in books, pictured next to G.W. buttons,haven't really seen any found till recently.I would imagine they are pretty scarce!
