Hey Gang.

After work I went for a hunt in the woods beside a local HS. The school was built in the 20's but I think there may have been a home site there before the school. Detecting there is VERY tough with lots of undergrowth and English Ivy everywhere.

My first good target was this key that I believe is railroad related. (Switch key?)

After a few shotgun shells I got a decent signal and was surprised to see a silver rim in the hole. I just knew it was going to at least be a Barber, but turned out to be a worn 1919 Merc.

Any info about the key would be appreciated. It has "SRR" (Southern Railway?) on one side and "E.S. Fraim S" on the other side. Yes, I gave it a little kiss with my digger. :sadsmiley:

Thanks for looking. GL and HH!

Looks like a switch lock or signal lock key.
Congratulations on the Silver.

Nice finds buddy! Nice old Merc and i really like the key. I do believe its a Southern railroad Switch key.

It's a railroad switch key. Here is a key and lock from the Georgia Railroad that I found a while back.
