My Excalibur is on it's way back

My Ex. cal. is on the way back, I received this reply when I asked what they found. Made me better knowing that there was some issues and it wasn't me. Don't know too much about the electronics part of these I was informed that the pcboard is like the mother board, so I guess it did have some real issues.

"we replaced coil, pcboards, strain relief, cable, endcap, boot.

sounds good. I work on electronics, repair, and also sometimes when a problem may not be evident, and at times when it comes in for service that is the case even though there is a problem, a "change all" under warranty is the way to go. That way you know you got it right.
Best of luck to ya Bill, keep us posted upon return.

So Bill what was it doing or not doing - what were the symptoms of that sick excalibur ? - Cavedweller

Re: My Excalibur is on it's way back

Erick and I went out to Boca Grande and I was telling him what mine was doing. He tried it and said it was screwed up. He then let me try his and I noticed a big difference. He has the older model. I have the new coil he has the old. I was getting all kinds of false signals and if I hit the ground in or out of the water it would sound off. Then if I hit iron it would null then go to that very loud tone and never return to normal until I swept the coil across my scoop.

I noticed as I was hunting a cut in the bank every time I hit the bank it would go off. The auto never worked and just went crazy from the time I tried to turn it on. I don't hunt in auto so it wasn't any big deal. I also noticed if I hit the coil anywhere on it with my hand then it would sound off.

Yep sounded sick alright....

With what they replaced sounds like it will be a new unit except for the original housing, battery and shaft.

Good luck on its next hunt

Good luck and good hunting.................

Bill - did you have a backup or did you have to go cold turkey - Cavedweller

No backup, and was started to experience withdrawal symptoms, but my buddy Erick came through again and he is letting me use his ex cal. and we are hitting the beach tomorrow lol.....

I should also mention that Montauk3 offered me his beachunter id to use while mine was in, and I have not ever had the pleasure of meeting him yet. That's a stand up guy for sure.

Mine didn't get here today

Whoa Bill I"am glad to hear your alright I don't know what I would do if I had to send mine away I would probably get violently sick and end up in the hospital - my wife made me put a pillow between
her and the coil because it kept hitting her and waking her up so you might try that, but seriously I hope you get It back soon I don't like hearing about these things Its very upsetting - Cavedweller
