Went to the in-laws house as we usually do every Sunday and they know that I am an avid detectorist and that I especially love finding the old coins. Well my father-in-law went upstairs and brought down a jar with some coins for me to look through. Well I opened up the jar and my eyes went strioght to the first big coin I saw in there. I pulled it out and that is when my eyes went WIDE
He had an 1847 large cent in there that was never in the ground! It was the same copper color I assume it would have in normal circulation and you could even make out some of the word "LIBERTY" in her crown! I was shocked to say the least and this was the first coin I pulled out of there! I can't even begin to tell you the excitement I was showing while going through these coins! I was like a kid opening presents!
Just to name a few of them I saw just the one large cent, a 2 cent peice, 3 three cent coins (the silver colored ones) a hobo buffalo nickle, a lincoln cent with libncoln smoking a pipe and another lincoln cent that had the Lord's Prayer on the back!! The last coin I can remember was the best for me to actually hold in my hand...an 1845 seated liberty dime!
I will bring my camera on Friday to get pics of these amazing coins but he let me take home the other jar that ahd mainly foreign coins...even a couple from the late 1800's!. But what he had in there also was a couple of tokens and a standing liberty quarter and wouldn;t you know it...another three cent coin dated 1865 and the detail is amazing! Thos I have pics of and will show the other pics this coming weekend.
Enjoy and HH
