Hey Tnetters!
I found this in my front yard today about 6 inches down. It read like a penny, looks like it used to be plated. Other finds within 10 feet are 1899 Indian Head, 1939 "S" Washington Quarter, 2 1965 quarters, and 1943 "D" War Nickel. I love this whatzit! Thanks in advance for ID.

Here's for size comparison...

What's a FOB? Thanks for the reply Montana!

I believe that Montana Jim is correct. The top part of the fob is gone. A fob was an item that hung on a strap. The strap had a pocket watch attached on one end and the fob would be on the other. The watch would be in a vest pocket or some other pocket, and the strap and fob would then hang out over the pocket. That way, when they wanted to look at the time, they would grab the fob and pull the watch out of their pocket. Fobs come in all shapes and forms. Yours would have had a bar over the top, and the strap would have gone under the bar and over the crest. Hope that this makes some sense. Nice find.

Thanks a lot Montana Jim and Nebstater, and it's good to see you TT. Haven't been on in a while... So, any idea on age or meaning of symbols? Normally I would do the research myself, but I am swamped with 10 hours of training a day...I can't thank you guys enough. I will have to go back over that area really carefully now, maybe I can find the watch!
