I finally found a Barber coin this weekend. My buddy invited me to go hunting but we really didn't have a place to go. He decided to just go up to a house in one of the older parts of town and just ask for permission. The old man that answered the door was skeptical at first as anyone would be if a stranger came to your door but once we identified ourselves and explained what we did he was more than willing to let us hunt his yard. He also gave us information on a few other places to hunt in the neighborhood. This was such a good yard to hunt, almost every coin was an old one. On one signal I found 2 mercury dimes and a wheatie in the same hole. All of the coins were about 4 to 5 inches deep and for some reason the Barber and one of the mercury dimes were coming in really weak. Maybe it was due to them being so thin or just that they were deeper than the others. I also thought maybe the ground conditions may have affected the signal. Anyway, it was alot of fun!!!

The wheat pennies range from 1916 to 1951.
