Got a super quick lunch-time hunt in this afternoon. Went to my favorite old park. About 7-10 minutes into it I got a loud jumpy high-tone. Probed around and pulled out an old brake pad...strange! Filled in my small hole, and as always, swung over the area a second time and got a nice solid 83 (dime signal). I knew it was shallow so I grabbed my lesche blade and carved out a small plug. Once I pulled it back I could see the solid silver reeded edge! So beautiful! I was expecting a Merc to be honest, and for a second I didn't know what I had when I retrieved it. Then I thought, "oh wow, it's a barber dime!" Stoked!! Looks like it lost a fight or two to the lawnmower, but hey...I'll take it!
AND NO I DIDN'T RUB IT!!!
1900 date...the reverse has a big gash where the mint mark would be. So wether it had one or not, who knows.
Hope everyone is having a great week. Happy hunting and good luck all.
