Hi there. today after a fair bit of research and walking I located the old whare (hut) of an armed constabulary post, after all the normal nails and wire..and all that stuff that is there to frustrate you, I got a hit a bit higher in the scale and dug wondering...and ill be damned if this lil buckle was looking at me from atop the dug pile...coudn't beleive it was mine..then an old nearly disintergrated snider bullet case and a brass buckle surrended ..pretty rapt as our history is pretty hard to come by in our fairly new country.

The buckle is fairly thin and I dont think it would be a main belt buckle but part of a uniform over strap!! maybe it held up the breeches of a soldier...do any one of you think this would be the case ?? the circa of the site is around 1866 to 1877..prior to that era the english...(choke) tried to sort out the maoris and they overstayed there welcome ...LOL..and colonial troops were our protectors..mind you they were a rag tailed bunch from all accounts...any way we live in peace now...I think...would like your thoughts again on this
the snider bullett complete by the dillapidated one is not part of my finds just a comparison...cheers des
