Corner lot is getting harder to find stuff. But at lunch I found my first Buffalo nickle 1919 I think IMG_20170829_124234409_HDR.webp IMG_20170829_143441.webpand on my way back across the yard heading to work I popped another one. Not had time to try and get a date yet.IMG_20170829_124412.webp

Wow - you found a whole herd! Or tribe! Or whatever! Great job! :hello2:

not only a first but a double, pretty darn good. most of mine look about like yours. still love em

Love the old buffalo nickle find! :occasion14:

A trick I found online for helping getting worn dates off nickels is to take about 8 oz of cider vinegar in a glass cup or jar, put it in the freezer anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, check it after 30 minutes, what your looking for is a layer of ice and slush on top, once you get that take a spoon or fork and remove all the ice you can, and the least amount of liquid, the ice is what you want, and put it in a small glass container with you nickels, check after 3 days or so and the dates should appear, you can leave them in there as long as you want, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't, what the ice is is actually concentrated acid from the vinegar, that acid slowly eats away at the coin and since the date is raised on the coin sometimes it reveals itself....search on YouTube and you will find it as well.
