Ever since I found the Morgan I have been hitting the same area exclusively for the last few trips. Been getting lots of old rusty pieces of metal and lots of garbage but I got some luck today and dug my first Buffalo 5 Cent! I can barely see the last two digits on the lower left and I believe it's 1928. Found another bar token near it as well. "B & M Bar" - Quite unfortunately named! ::)

Like I said, lots of metal around there and it takes some work to get down a ways and see if there's some older coins hidden. Dug some nails (too many) a pocket knife, some old padlocks and my first really old-looking key! Too bad it was in so sad a shape - rusted and broken in half. The other old key looked to be in better shape but it's got a bit of rust too. the larger of the two locks I can read the label a bit and I think it's made by "Corbin"? The smaller one I can't read at all but the label is diagonally across the front of it. Old steak/butter knife, suspender clip and some other misc. One piece has me scratching my head - the round metal disc with the "S" on it. Might have to post that in the "What is it? " thread..

The weekend is finally here! I have my gear packed and am planning on spending some good hours out in this spot on Saturday. Hope everyone has fantastic luck this weekend!!

Thanks for reading!

Your S disc looks like a lead seal used by companies to ensure that goods arrived on location without being tampered with. If it is lead, that's what I'd go with. Nice bunch of finds!

Thanks for confirming my suspicion about the "S" thing. It reminded me of the type of seal that goes on the electric meter - only a LOT BIGGER! LOL It's heavy enough to be made of lead but it was rusted up pretty bad - does lead rust like that? Anyway - thanks again!

Congrats on your first buff :headbang: I always try and save the first coin I find of anything in a little cardboard holder. Just as a keepsake for me to remember the memory :sign13:

Judging by your posts, you are doing EXTREMELY well so far. Sounds like the "bug" has already bit you BIG time :help:

There is NO other feeling better than pulling an old coin from the ground. Remember well what went through you when you pulled that sucker out. Cause, there will be days when NOTHING is coming out of the ground. But, you'll always have those memory finds to push you along to dig another hole or go out another day. That's what it's all about.

I see a banner year in front of you

Congrats on that first. :headbang:

The lead usually doesn't, but the wire running through it will. Keep up the good work!

Black , I'm running out of superlatives to describe your finds this summer - so... I'll have to resort
to expletive deleted's - Frankly you are kicking a$$ - and with a Morgan , a gold ring , and now
a buff. nick., you are a newbie no more !!! Argentium.

Congratulations, not only a 1928 buffalo, but a S mint as well :headbang: Paul :coffee2:
