After a few years at detecting, finally one has come out in full glory. It’s in super shape. And has fancy. A night hunt with no ability to read numbers, put the t2 in 4 tone and found this right smack in the middle of my “starting area” for this yard. Where I always ground grab and adjust settings. I have stepped over this a dozen times. Love that dang 5” coil. What does the “No 2” marking represent?

Congrats found the same exact bell here in RI. I forget exactly when No 2 was from but its a bell from the 1800’s. The earlier ones had design on both sides. You can look the history of the bells online and they show the designs and time periods. Mine was my first as well.

Congrats on the bucketlister. Very fine shape. That's a find to be proud of.

Nice find IowaRelic. Thanks for sharing...

I think 2 represents the size. I found a 3 a couple of weeks ago. Gary

Congratulations on your bell. I have also found one. Keep it on my desk. Yours appears to have an attach point cast into it of the same metal. My attach point is of iron and has either broken or rusted off. These bells are all to be loved.

Beautiful Bell and Great condition, congrats! :icon_thumleft:

I’ve got it to jingle again. Oh, so happy. My kids and wife think it’s so cool.

Congrats on your first Crotal Bell. The number 2 designates the size of the bell.

Excellent Crotal Bell recovery. Still a lister for me. Glad you checked that one off. Nice!

Big Congrats! That bell sure came out the ground looking great. I don't think we have too many of those down here the South.

I don’t think there is a whole lot here either. I have hit dozens of old homes and never found one. I think the boys out east and northeast find them pretty regularly.

Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Congrats crotal bells are definitely things of beauty in my eyes! I know as far as dating them the style of shank is a helpful clue as well!

one of my favorite things to find right there

Nice 1st Crotal bell! Congrats.
