my first find

i got my first find today! i walked around for 3 hours yesterday, after i came home with my new MD, with no luck. after a hour today i almost gave up on MDing all together. as i was walking back to my truck i hit on something so i started digging. i found two pennies! they are worthless, but my find got me re-interested in MDing again.

I have been having so many days like that, I'm all done for the day, ready to go home. So I figure I'll check one more spot on the way. That's actually how I found my one and only mercury. Just goes to show it's always worth one more swing.

Daniel, what detector are you using? maybe you need to tweek it one way or the other to get the most out of it,also do you have your coil to the ground,and does it need to be air balanced before you start?
and have you tested it with know items such as a silver or gold ring,differant coins etc.
you found two cents don't give up!

You have to start someplace and that is about as good as any place to start. As my name implies I have dug a few pennies myself and many days even when I am 99.9% sure it is a clad penny I will still dig'em. I do believe the biggest gold ring I have ever found rang in as a penny, it weighed in at close to 1/2 ounce. Oh and I am pretty sure that someone else had tried to pinpoint it will their probe but couldnt locate it and figured they had just left "another penny". The ground around the ring had that just probed feeling.

As someone that's new to MDing myself, let me tell you to have patience and keep the faith. Swing that detector and the clad will come. I have been going for just over three weeks now and have found $34.00 in coins (clad). In addition to that I've also come up with 1 mercury dime, a 1964 Kennedy silver half dollar, a single gold earing, a nice old square nail and some other items. The stuff is out there! Try looking around some of the popular playground / park areas / football fields (near bleachers) these spot are typically pretty good for coin shooting. Don't forget your own house and the house of everyone you know

Hi Daniel . Don't pressure your self and just have some fun. The finds will come. I'm five years in now still and still learning. Every finds a milestone that leads to the next challenge. It took me three months to find my first wheat penny. HH Good luck.

most folks start out that way but believe me your boat will come in ,just not sure what size boat,i've found alot of cool coins ,relics and such and i was told 90% of stuff buried and or lost is still in ground.i've had those ahhhggg days then great days and everything in the middle,you gotta just keep plugging..i know this if you dont dig you WONT find anything..so goodluck and KEEP DIGGIN.
