My First Gold.... Plz don't laugh

I was digging in an old foundation back in 1972 and amoungst some cool bottles, broken bottles and old horse shoes popped out this bright and shiney belt buckle. I cleaned it up with just some soap and water and saw the engraved initials "BB" on the front of it with some scroll work too. Turns out my only gold treasure to date is this "rolled Gold Plate" Girls Belt Buckle with a nickle silver mechanism and backing. It measures 1 1/8" by 1 3/4" inches. I've kept it all these years and now I share it with you guys. I'm getting a new/used detector soon and revisit that old foundation. Hopefully I can impress ya'll and have a good time as well.

Whether that buckle is gold-plated or nickel-plated wouldn't matter much to me. It's a nice find. WTG. Hope you get back to that old foundation ASAP. And I hope a strip mall hasn't been built over it. LOL Good luck.

No laughing here, that's a nice find.

Best of luck with your new/used detector.

Re: My First Gold.... Plz don't laugh

Thanks guys... I love this site and the people here. I dug that buckle outta the ground with an old stick and about 6 other kids. I didn't even get or know about a metal Detector for years after that. However for now... There is no mall built there but time is the enemy of old foundations and convenient fields once used for fairs & carnivals. We are in the age of The Condos, Strip Malls and Housing Developments. I think I'll get the Whites 6000 di again. However I am laid up now...and alas knee surgery has me doing research and site search area's. There's a few more foundations around me that I wanna check out. Some are in the High Tension Power Lines...Do Ya think there will be any issues with the EMF's and the detector ? There's a kewl old well (filled with rocks) I guess thats good for safety. The power Company just bought out all those old homes years ago for the power lines. Dunno how legal some of that is but it always seems like the "Man" is "eyeballin" ya no matter where you go. I guess they rather have you be a "Bar-Fly" so they can get a nice DUI on you instead of being a cool citizen not doing any damage. But someone always owns the property. It's best to ask... but sometimes it doesn't seem like anyone would care and you JUST GOTTA check that sweet looking area. Meanwhile I'll hold onto my belt buckle & Good Luck to us all.

I think it's neat that you found it way back in 72' and hung on to it. Groovy.
Was there any famous woman country singer in 72' with the initials "BB"?
By the way, you didn't save your old Schwinn Stingray did you? Those are like gold today. Thanks for the great post.

Re: My First Gold.... Plz don't laugh

I have my Raleigh Grand Prix. I got new in 1978........ Not as sought after.

And a mess of old coins found in the early 80's when I got my 1st MD'er.

As kids my uncle took us old bottle hunting on weekends. I wish I had a MD'er then.

I sat up till midnight last night making out a list so when I get my new MD'er. My Left Knee surgery last Friday has slowed me down a bunch so I'm doing busy work like lists and research.... and dreaming

I just found this site on Friday and I really love it... Such nice people here. I love it!

5 inches of new snow here in CT.... grrrrrr That's OK. I'll wait.
