I did my first hunt for about 30 mins. :) Found these two items. There was more but I will go back another time. Can someone tell me what they are. ??? Let me tell you that this is a site of an old town from the 1870's. The town moved around 1879 to a location about 3 three miles south of the original spot. Maybe that will help with idenitying these.

Re: My first hunt

Hi dehaan, this first item sort of looks like a piece from an old saw blade or mowing cutter. Perhaps the area you are hunting was also farmed. If it was farmed you will most certainly find some old buttons and maybe some old coins. Look for where they once had their gardens. Welcome aboard and good luck on future hunts!

That was my thought an old saw blade. The settlement was a logging boom town. Now just forest. Did have a post office on site though.

Welcome to the forums.
As already posted #1 is a saw - depending on size I first thought it might have been an ice saw
#2 looks like the housing for a pulley, the lower part with the stud is where the pulley was.

Welcome.. like most said, the 1st is a saw blade, probably from a two man saw, the 2nd looks the piece that would attach the blade to a wooden handle, the 3rd....I dunno...

Welcome as well. I think, if all those pieces belong together, then you may have one of those tools used to srape and shape planks cut from logs.

could be a left handed nose whistle in there! Man track down that post office cash flowed around there. Oh just kidding about the left handed nose whistle thing, thats what I call everything I cant figure out, plus I just have that kind of sence of humor being a left handed carpenter and all! Welcome aboard. Mike
