Whites M6, Fisher F5, Fisher 1265-X, Teknetics T2
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
The picture is from a short hunt around a local soccer field. This was just my 2nd time out with a new to me Whites Coinmaster GT.
The ring is a James Avery Raised Fleuree Cross Ring, sterling silver. It's listed in their online catalog at $99.
This is my first large ring find. It registered as a quarter at +85, with a nice high silver tone (I was in multi-tone mode).
It was near a tree and only about 2-3" deep.

It was exciting and totally unexpected, probably my best find so far with any machine. Most of my finds have been coins, other jewelry finds have been small and less valuable, probably due to where I've searched and where I'm at on the detecting learning curve. I'm still learning the Coinmaster GT, so far with the 9" coil it seems well suited for sports field searches, not so much for totlots with playground equipment! Need a smaller coil in that environment ...

When I'm in a tot lot and as I approach the metal poles of the equipment I listen for the dbl hit, one is the pole, the other another target.

Very well done.

That is a big ring, and a nice one at that...

Sweet! Congrats.
Hey, what's the round right below the quarter? A nickle? It's bigger than the pennies but looks like copper.

Wow what a honker of a ring! Nice find!!!

Awesome! Congrats on the silver. I found a James Avery silver ring today too

Good looking ring congrats on your finds.HH.

Sweet big silver !

Great find ! Avery is a decent jeweler - quite well known now - started in his garage in the 1950's -( Kerrville, TX. ) now he's international.
I too have dug a couple of Avery silver rings .

That's a nice chunk o' silver! You should add your metal detector to your displayed profile so people know what machine you are getting a +85 on. Could mean different things for different detectors! Thanks for sharing!

That's a Jefferson nickel, it's amazing how short of a time in the ground before all clad looks about the same. I don't know if it's the same for all soils, this soil is a very alkaline fine grained black clay.

Thanks everyone for the comments!
