my first time out

today i spend the first time some more time with my new fisher 1236-x2. i hit a campground. i found lots of pulltabs, cans and much more junk - was a good pinpointing lesson :-) but i also found 1 quater, 1 dime, 1 penny and a token which says - no cash value -. when i left i disvovered that i still had the soilcover on :-) i m such a newbie - but getting better :-)

Do you mean the coil cover? It is supposed to stay on.

i didnt know that u leave the coil cover ( this small plastic staff, which i got as a freebee from kellyco) on, i thought, u just put it on for transport and so. i never read anything about that. doesn't that effect the results? does everybody leave the cover on.??

Definitely doesn't affect depth. It protects the coil from wear and tear of daily use. If you're swinging it the right way you should be scrubbing the ground while you're sweeping trhe coil from side to side. The cover gets the scratches not the coil. Good luck and welcome to the forum.
