All,

I've been watching everyone finding the multiple V Nickles in every other roll; started thinking to myself that I must be living on the wrong side of the planet as I've never see one first hand. Well I guess that I musta not been looking long enough as it only took 45 years; well anyhow I finally came across my first 1906 V Nickle ;D tonight in my last box of nickles. Went through one nickle and a dime box last night and did the remaining nickle box tonight. All in all, I did find a pretty good haul with the nickles, just might switch from the Halves back to the nickles. I know I won't be looking at the dimes again, as I only had 3 keepers out of a $250.00 box. Below is a listing of what was found and a couple Pics of the V Nickle and the 20 Pence.

Enjoy,

Don

It took quite while before anyone found a V-nickel last year, but this year they're everywhere! Even more common than buffalos it seems! At this rate can we expect a Shield nickel?

Great finds Don! Keep it up!

Nice! ;D

In the passed 3-5 weeks, I have found 4 V nickels and about 7 buffalo nickels, only a couple War Nickels. Oh yeah, 2 1938 D nickels. I enjoy nickels almost as much as the half dollars, although there is very little silver in the nickels. I am finding in probably 3/4 of the boxes I search from a particular bank, I will get either one V, one Buffalo or one War nickel. I think my best nickel box was 3 Buffalos (two in a single roll) and a War nickel.

As far as V nickels, I think to be VG you have to have a Letter or two showing. My best V nickel has the bumps where the letters are, but are not clear.

Also, I wonder, has anyone found a Seated Liberty Half dollar in a box in the past decade? I know probably someone has from Ms. Old Lady turning in a roll she might have had for the past 70 years or so.

Please key posting the finds and pics!

The letters in LIBERTY that is, for the V nickel to be VG!

Bill O'Rourke, whose nom de T-net is foundinrolls, found an 1853 Seated Liberty quarter last year though he didn't report it on this site. He writes a bi-weekly CRH column in Coin World.

OK - that does it! I've been satisfying my self with halves up to this point, but DandyDon is the one who finally pushed me over the edge into doing nickels. Thanks Don! Now if only I can find my first "V" without having to wait 45 years!

Congratulations to you, Don! I know that must've been quite rush to find that one!

I am guessing not since they are slightly smaller, but who knows, one of the tellers at one of my common banks had someone turn one in last year, but she wouldn't sell it to me as she was keeping it.

Nice find on the V-Nickel.

Nice find on the V, Don, and it looks as if you had quite a few other keepers, too!

Think I might start with a box of Nickels after finishing up the stuff from around the house. Just getting started, actually :-\ Not exactly sure what I'm doing yet, but I'm doing it ;D
