I was metal detecting an old house place in a field next to an old Mission in Northeast Oklahoma yesterday when I got a ID 82 high signal on my Garrett AT Gold. I dug down to reveal a 1956D wheat penny and when I got up and I ran my detector near the spot again and heard an high pitch but didn't really pay attention to the number but thought it was in the 80's so I thought that it was another wheat penny. I plunged my digging tool and flipped the soil and out popped this beauty!!! I saw the beautiful Eagle on back and at once knew it had to be one of the Liberties!!! I turned the coin around and saw that it was a 1941 D Walking Liberty Half Dollar! This is my first Walking Liberty and I just kept looking at how beautiful a coin it was! I have been over that area many, many times at different angles and never got more than Wheat pennies and old tax tokens...lol which I love everything I find! This just continued to show me that no place is searched out! I can't wait to go back out this evening to search the place again! Congratulations! I've recovered numerous 1800's coins, but have yet to find a single walking, seated, or standing liberty. Well done!

Congrats on finding the Walker. Kind of amazing when a BIG shiny coin suddenly appears in a hole... especially, your first one. When I found my first one, I was just amazed, I stood up and left the machine on the ground, and just walked over the truck to get something to drink, I was just speechless!

I hope that there are many more in your future!

Congratualtions on the big silver! :occasion14:

Ive found close to 100 silver coins in 16 months of detecting. My second ever silver was my only Walker. Nice find.

Outstanding! Nothing like your first.... Congrats on a great find!

Congrats on the Walker and hope you find many more

Congrats on the nice Walker!!! Its a great feeling when you pull a coin like that out of the soil. I found my half a couple of weeks ago. :occasion14:

Congratulations, my digging buddy got his first this past weekend. I'm still looking.

Congrats on your first Walking Liberty. They are a very nice coin to find. I can still remember the first one ( and every one after that ) that I have found. You just dont seem to lose the memory of that coin.

That is one pretty coin.
Adolf Weinman designed both the Walking Liberty Half, and the Mercury Dime.
I love Mercury Dimes and will never get tired of digging Walkers. lol
Congrats on your 1st Walker.

Thanks everybody for the comments!!! I absolutely love the Liberty coins and have almost bought a few just so I could have in my collection because I loved the design of them but nothing beats the excitement of finding one!!! I didn't find anything but a 1958 D wheat penny and a Oklahoma tax token when I went back to the same place yesterday but I was happy to find those. The Walking Liberty will keep me excited for a while anyway!!! I love metal detecting because everything you find helps you discover the history of a place and conjures up images of what it may have been like at that time in the past. Thanks again everyone for the comments and good luck to all!!!!
