Well it's not like I found the holy Grail, but it was neat to find anyway.
My first Wheat Penny.

Also Learned the difference between a solid Copper Penny and Zinc on my Detector.
Copper pennies look like a Dime (83) on my GBpro.
And now I have two separate containers for Pennies.

Cheers

Congrats and hope you find lots more great old coins !

When you start finding wheaties.. the silver is not far away...

STOP THE PRESSES, Glad to hear you pulled a first. It's hard to believe though. Where do you mainly hunt?

Don't shy away from hits that are not up to the 83. I find many indians and toasted wheats that hit low for a copper cent but about right for a zincoln.

Thank you all.
Yes, I have my coin-vibe flowing for my first Silver.
Looking forward to it!

Loco-Digger,
I've been hitting the Grass in local parks lately.
I do a little research on the parks in my area, trying to find out how long they have been there and what might have been there before.
and yes LOL... STOP THE PRESSES! Wake the Neighbors! kick the dog! That's Funny, I don't care who you are.

Funny how excited I get now over what is really a trivial little thing.
But that is the beauty of it as well.
Something so simple yet packed with history from a time gone by.
To think of where it might of come from and the people who have carried it over time only to end up where I find it in the ground.

Good point too, xr7ator.
I see all kinds of different numbers for the same things....soil, angle of object, multiple objects together, so many things messing with you.
I have been doing my best not to walk away from some hits knowing darn well, that even though it may end up trash, I'd kick myself if I walked away from something potentially good.

Thanks ya'll

G

That's what I always say, "where there's wheat there's silver", well that's what keeps me going anyways.

Ahh yes I still remember my first..........seems like just yesterday.8-)

Nice looking penny. My Wife looks at me like I am crazy when I geek out about an old wheat or other coin. I am sure a sliver is in your future but you might have to look somewhere other then hunted to death parks. Happy New Year

My profile name is from the first wheatie I ever dug . I understand your excitement
