Metal Detecting has become a newfound passion that started for me in October of this year. I started out with a Garrett Ace 250, and quickly switched over to a Minelab Explorer II, a switch I have been very happy with. This first 3 months of hunting has taken me to many parts of my local area that I would have never seen otherwise. I have had pleasant conversations with curious people on the beach, I have enjoyed terrific competition between new friends, I have shared in the wonderful finds of others and they have shared in my finds as well. This hobby has given me the opportunity to experiment, to enjoy time outdoors, to collect, and I have felt a thrill and a rush at almost every single beep of the coil. I have had amazing hunting days, and days where I was lucky to find a pull tab. All along the way, even during the poor hunting days, I have enjoyed the challenge to find the next treasure. While my collection may be humble so far, every find to me is special. My saltwater finds may be toasty, but I have a collection full of character and stories. Here's wishing you a happy new year, and I truly hope that your season was as memorable as mine. Here is a summary of my grabs from October, November and December:

It's not much, but I got such a rush finding gold:

And finally, the silver from the year, my favorite category. I was super happy to bring in 9 silver half dollars, including a Seated Liberty, a Barber, and 7 walking liberty half dollars. In total, I found 65 silver coins:

Thank you for looking and I look forward to seeing everyone else's collections.

Heck of a haul, outstanding!

I am big fan of the silver! You did quite well with the jewelry department! Detecting has become a huge passion in the life over the past decade and especially over the last few years. I get out at least once and most times twice during a week. Cold, hot, wet, dry, nothing detours me. I have began to see a pattern with sites. I almost always find harmonica reeds, old shot gun shell butts, keys, hinges, utensils, button, ax heads, buckles.

Wow, great finds! love the jewelry. that's always my favorite lol
Hope 2016 goes even better for you!:icon_thumright:

Wow congrats on all the great finds

gotta love those silvers-- welcome to the hobby

You scored big time in those 3 short months, and beat me in silver coins totals even though 2015 was 10 month season for me. Thanks for sharing your finds, and by the tone of the post I can see you are obsessed like me when it comes to swinging the coil. Here's to a great 2016!!! :occasion14: cheers

Man you're killin' it for only three months; especially on the silver and rings. And yeah, I use the word "passion" to describe my addiction too. It's a very fine line between the two.

The gold doesn't appear often but when it does it's most definitely a huge rush.
By this time next year you'll probably have more if you keep at it.

I've found lots of gold and silver jewelry but ironically, silver coins just don't show up in my area very often. I need to work on getting some new sites with better silver coin potential cause I love it when I do find them.

Keep up the good work and Good Luck in 2016.....

Great three months . Most people don't find that many goodies in a year much less three months

I was just thinking that you should talk to someone at Minelab.
They could use you and your finds in an ad to show that a newbie can find treasure in no time with their products. Your pics look would look great on their website imo.

Awesome very nice

Been hunting 25 years and still never found a seated half. So you did pretty well methinks. Good luck to you in 2016. :occasion14:

Excellent 3 months of hunting.
I don't know where you live in the USA, but wherever it is ,,
they must allow you to sleep in the parks.
I would pitch a tent too but they won't allow that in NYC. lol
Congrats on all your finds

The way you are starting out ,those three months were well spent.Keep it up and you will be no.1 detectorist for sure.

You need to go play the lottery. You are one lucky man to find all that in a few months. Great job can't wait to see what your 2016 totals are.

Good haul for your efforts.

Regards + HH

I would say you're off to a wonderful start. I know one thing for certain- your site choices are outstanding. Congrats and may you find many more in 2016
