I have been doing some research on a ghost town near my home town. I don't have permission yet to hunt the land but hopefully will very soon. People started moving there in the early 1800's and lived there into the 1930's. All the land is in a hunting lease so I must be carefull and not step on any toes. There was a church there that was built in 1818. It was a log church originally but was torn down to build a larger one in the mid 1800's. I took the liberty to go to the old cemetery and take some pictures. That is where I found my personal hero. The first picture is his grave. I can't even begin to imagine the things he saw in his lifetime. Think about it. He lived through all the major wars in this country. I would have loved to sit down and talk to him. The stories he could tell would have been amazing. I have included a few other pictures also and as you can see, there is history in this old town. Enjoy.

I guess there was a mistake on J.M. Ladd's headstone. I love the old cemeteries.

Probably got his first name wrong. What's truely amazing is the dates on the first head stone. Obediah lived 105 years. Wow. :o

N.J.THer...Thanks for that link. I really enjoyed your post. I too would like to do some restoration work on some of the cemeteries in my home town. I now live about 3.5 hours from there and when I go to visit there's just not enough time. Keep up the good work. I'm glad to know there are people out there trying preserve our history.

Well that narrows down the search for the pot of gold!

Yep. That's where all the silent hero's lay resting. I've often thought the same thing. My grandmother will be 96 this June. I love talking to her. Think of all the things she has seen.

The last one of one for a Free Mason. I know because i am one. Very nice to see it is still in good shape

You're the lucky one. I would give anything if I could still talk to my grandparents. They taught me alot while they were here but I still have alot to learn. Guess I'm on my own now.
