Well another trip to my ancestral family home produced a couple of pretty neat finds. I wont bore you with the non coin items. The soil here really seems to preserve artifacts, I included a square nail I found about 10 feet from the first copper to show the condition of even iron found on this site.

The 2 coppers got me really excited as I found them right away within 5 feet of my starting point, then when searching around the base of the gnarly looking Linden Elm tree I hit 2 silver signals in a row.. The tiny little nickel so toasted almost made me cry , but then when the dime popped out i was relieved to see it in such fantastic shape... I got it into cardboard right away (after slight cleaning) because it looked pretty mint right out of the ground.

I think the tiny Nickle is adorable..if I can call a coin adorable... I imagine it was pretty easy to lose these little buggers.. I am surprised I don't find more.

Thank you for looking! HH!

Nice fidns congrats.. Wow that sqaure nail is in really good shape.. Congrats..

Two old silvers is a good day. AND that 1915 is quite a key date.

Thanks guys I was pretty excited. Why is that a key date Rick? I didn't see anything when i looked it up?

Great finds, I wish the soil here was so kind. Congrats!

"Key Date" It is the scarest of the GEO V series (1911-1936) of Canada dimes, worth 4 times most other dates in the series. So the best one to find.

Thanx Rick, Il keep it in the cardboard then heh :)

BTW, those old square nails aren't just iron, there is something else in the alloy, which is one reason they last so long in the ground, and why you can't DISC. them out (with a reasonable amouunt of DISC.)
