Today I went to my Tuesday branch pickup for my boxes. I was going through the rolls and noticed a thin silver in one of the rolls. My first thought was it was a worn Walker but to my very pleasant surprise...out pops a Barber.....1899-S!! Wahoooooo.............yeah baby!!!!! It really surpised me because I wasn't pulling many silvers out of this box.

This Barber is the oldest silver half that I have found while CRH'ing. It beats my previous oldest by one year. In 07 I found a 1900 Barber. Yes, I am estactic.....I am still walking about 6" off the floor....ha!!

I also found another rough shape proof and another "magician coin" that I can not identify so if anyone has a clue of what it is please chime in. I would appreciate it.

Today's totals......

3-64's
1-65
5-66's
11-67's
11-68's
2-69's
Barber 1899-S
1-Proof 94-S

35 Keepers

Whoa! :o Nice find LJ!! I always think finds like that this early in the year are kind of a reward for the previous year's dedication. And hopefully the first of many! WTG!

The magician's coin is a British penny and that style of Queen Elizabeth was in use from 1954-1967. Another cool find!

You always amaze me with your finds. BTW I think I started a few months before you and I still haven't broken the 1900's mark. I got close with a 1904 V nickle and a week or so later a 1901 IH cent.

I haven't made any pick ups since right before christmas. Still have about $30-40 in CWRs of cents that I need to search. I hope the roller coaster bottomed out on me in Nov-Dec and I guess I'm still bummed out.

........and when isn't it your lucky day..........LOL. Nice, I SO need to find a Barber.

WTG LJ! Different year, same results.

Amazing find! Almost makes a Texas boy want to cross the Sabine for something more than boudain.

LJ when I grow up I want to be just like you! ;D I'm amazed at all the silver you find. Best wishes and happy hunting!

That is another version of the "Scotch and Soda" magic trick. The other is a Mexican coin. I had one, then gave it up to my brother in law, and then wished I hadn't! I think they are a cool find!
Congrats on the Barber!!

Very nice LJ. I agree with AW, "when is it NOT your lucky day?" haha. We know you work hard at it and deserve all the silver you get and then some. I struck out today, no boxes on order but I thought I could scalp a couple from the Vault Room- all cleaned out till tomarrow. Hope I have time to stop there tomarrow as well as ME regular Wed pickup. HH Mark

Way to go LJ... Keep up the good work. My boxes don't come in until Thursday. I have been going nuts not having any boxes to look at. I was so bored last night I actually went through pennies and I hate to go through pennies. I did find seven wheats and one IH. I only searched ten dollars worth.
