Shown below is a picture of a very solid chunk of some sort of iron ore that has all of the properties of a meteorite, but isn't... And a chunk of copper or something that I can't figure out.
The meteowrong was found up on a ridge and I picked it up to share an example of a classic meteowrong. The hunk of copper was found along the bank of a creek wedged way down in a 1/2" crevice under dirt and other rocks.
The way my Lobo ST was reacting, I was sure I had found a large gold nugget... Nope, just this interesting piece of what looks to be copper. At first I thought it was just the remains of a copper-jacketed bullet, but it's not.
I have no idea what it was; just seems odd to find a hunk of copper in that size/shape wedged down in a granite crevice in a remote canyon...
