I think I’ve got it down to vian creek, checks all the description boxes in overstreet including basal thinning. Only reservation is the shoulder may be too pronounced

Or Jackie stemmed. Checks all boxes again on this type overstreet doesn’t mention basal thinning which mine def shows. But the shoulder may be a bit closer

What do you guys think one of these? Something else? I’m in se Kansas

It is an unfinished point. Started but for what ever reason never finished.

I know pictures leave out details, i think it’s more broken, one ear is broken off and that break caught the shoulder too. On the opposite side part of the blade is missing and then the tip was broken off. I found it on an old farm path now a cow path I’m guessing if it didn’t break during its useful life it broke when it was stomped, kicked, or driven over by trucks and tractors.

Before I posted this pic, I wanted to see what people thought of my point seeing it as is. I traced over the point where it wasn’t broken then flipped it over and traced a mirror image. This gave me a reasonably close picture of the point if it had not broken. I drew out some of the flaking and took some liberties with the tip. This is what I got

My opinion--it looks like it is a broken piece. Some of the final knapping steps wouldn't be evident if it were abandoned while incomplete. Good "virtual restoration"!

Wow! You have talent! I would call it a mid archaic stemmed point, but honestly, I can just group them in generalities, I'm not good with particular styles unless I have found one like it.

It's a Jakie Stemmed, OTB. Vian Creek are a Dalton variant with a longer fish-tailed stem.

Neanderthal, in that case early Archaic?

That’s where I was leaning too especially after I found this Jackie in a book on my general area

The Overstreet that you're using must not be the 15th edition. Pick it up when you get a chance, it's the only accurate one. It does list the Jakie in NC, along with tons of other changes (it was completely re-written).

I have the latest, that’s a diff book I got that pic from focuses on the ozark area where I’m in the north west corner of
