Made a short dive today and had a bit of fun. No new hot spots. Just out in the weeds a little but mostly in the open areas. The walker is a 1937, a merc, a rosey, a war nickel were my silver coin finds. A silver religious medal and a silver ring. The ring says 1934 A decade of progress Chicago. Four brass rings, a brass religious medal and another brass bracelet. I thought it was the same one I found last dive with the 10 Commandments on it. This one has the Lord's Prayer.

Have to save without pictures. Will have them up shortly

The ring is probably from the 1934 World's Fair, held in Chicago.
The theme was; A Century of Progress

Great finds buddy, you sure some of those brass rings are not 10K? did you look for marks, acid test?

I have found so many rings I can tell brass from gold. Even gold plated ones don't fool me under a magnifying glass. I thought the tiny one on the left was gold. However it is plated.

Nice finds Scuba - most will clean up nicely! Thanks for sharing...

Good quantity of silver for a short hunt. Congratulations once again.

Very nice. Congrats and thanks for sharing.

If it wasn't because of the 10 K mark, I would have thought this ring was brass.
Here are before and after pix before and after electrolysis and baking soda paste

Gold has a unique look and feel to it. I can tell 10K black rings very easy. Plated ones under a magnifying glass show someplace the plating is wearing off or bubbling up. Solid gold do not. Sure they are blacker because of the silver content, however they are solid and uniform and do not show a hint of brass showing through.

Want to see something funny. For kicks my dive partner proved to me the military made 50 cal bullets out of gold. Here are two bullets I found. Of course they are both brass. However, you can shine brass up enough to fool others into thinking you have gold.

All these black things are 10K gold and all found this year. Gold has a certain sheen and feel to it when you find it that brass does not.

It seems that you are always find great stuff,
Thanks for sharing photos and stories.

Your finds always amaze me, and make me envy your ability to dive and detect places I can't. You go boy - Awesome! :notworthy:

I should of known you knew, lol
Just in case, hate to see someone toss gold in the brass bin.

I might be breaking out the Hookamax today or tomorrow!
Woo hoo!

Scuba,

Wanted to drop a note and say THANK YOU for diligently posting all your finds. You have some amazing stuff, and I often daydream what it must be like to hunt the big lake like you do. Pretty awesome streak of finds you've got going. I'm thinking, "eventually, he'll HAVE to run out of swim buckles to find." but nope... you just keep them coming. LOL

Skippy!

Actually I am in a big river. I haven't moved over 3/4ths of the weeds out there. There is going to be more hot spots and plenty more silver I am sure. As soon as I find where one of the two slides ended I am going to blow everyone away again.

Those swim buckles are the best. They are big and set my machine off while detecting above the muck. Then I can move the muck and find the smaller coins and trinkets. Next time I detect there I will show a picture of another find that I have been collecting out there that also helps. I have not posted one of them yet.

Your welcome and I thank everyone for the replies.

Woo hoo!

That also looks like fun. I had a hookah, used it once and sold it. It had a 5hp Briggs and Straton motor on it. Way too noisy for me to have on top while I was under. I didn't want to tick people off. Is yours battery operated?

Wish my "normal days" I'd find a small piles of silver. Love following your hunts and seeing what you find next.
Another killer hunt!!
